Mayor Scott Accuses Council Then Walks Out Over Charges
Mayor P. J. Scott leveled fraud and oath violations against Bowie aldermen at a half hour meeting after arriving late with a law book in hand. He claimed the alley behind the First Baptist Church was closed illegally without a public vote. City Attorney Glenn Jones urged written charges before action and noted unopened alleys may close by petition. Scott cited statutes, then left the room after telling Jones to file charges. Fourteen supporters attended, opposing the trash collection and gate closure, as the council resumed regular business.
