The twenty first annual Sidewalk Art Show will be held in Bowie Texas on Saturday June 28 1969. Sponsored by Bowie Art League the free event has no registration or entry fees. Artists may sell art on the streets with no commissions and qualified judges will award ribbons in each category. Exhibitors are asked to register.

Sunset man dies after highway crash near Sunset
Michael Randolph Grbavance, 74, longtime Sunset resident, died Sunday from injuries in a Saturday morning accident one mile north of Sunset in front of a Self Service Station. He drove a 1950 Chevrolet that apparently pulled in front of a 1964 Chevrolet from Waurika Oklahoma. Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Sunset with Rev Cannette officiating. interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Iva Grbavance, three sisters, two brothers, and five grandchildren. Owens-Brumley Funeral Home of Bowie directed arrangements.

The Bowie School Board hired Kenneth Lloyd Gill as assistant football coach and Jerry Floyd as assistant band director at a special meeting last Monday. Gill, a 1967 Texas Tech grad and former Gator Bowl standout, will coach backfield and assist with track. Floyd, a Midwestern graduate, brings two years of band teaching experience.

The Amity Club of Bowie hosts the Miss Jim Bowie contest drawing seventeen entrants the largest field yet with contestants from Bowie Bridgeport No cona Henrietta Montague and Midway School District. Contestants will be judged on appearance and poise in western wear and evening gown at 6 30 p m June 28 at the Junior High School Auditorium followed by a parade through downtown Bowie at 4 p m June 26.

Local Guard Unit Deploys for Fort Hood Field Training
Ninety nine enlisted men and six officers of Battery C2 13 Field Artillery 72nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Bow ie depart Sunday under Captain James Cantwell for annual field training at Fort Hood. The 72nd Brigade is led by General Thompson and will conduct a week of 155 mm howitzer fired at the Fort Hood range.
