The Farmers Home Administration office in Bowie is closed and operations shift to the Decatur office in the Post Office basement. A new farm to market road from Bellevue to Vashti was let by the State to Fred Bell of Abilene for 48000 dollars. Work starts immediately and will follow the Vashti Bellevue right-of-way.
At Tecumseh Court in Annapolis on June 2 1947 Midshipman David M. Latham son of Mrs Homer B Latham Bowie Texas was presented with the Navy Varsity Athletic Award for his help to the Naval Academy 150 pound football squad He earned the honor for material aid to the first team.

Three Bowie churches including First Baptist First Methodist and First Presbyterian close their Vacation Bible Schools today with public programs. Enrollment rose daily with 315 at the Baptist school the highest total. Methodist plan runs 9 10 am Friday while the others hold 730 pm events. Certificates and awards will be presented with exhibits reviewed.
