Edwards Motor Company announces the installation of a Bean wheel alignment machine, the only one of its kind in Bowie. The modern device features a recess pit for mechanics to work beneath the car, improving fault remedy and reducing shimmying, road wear, and tire wear that cause auto wrecks.

Mrs. Wibur Morgan, Mrs. Elvin Butler, and Miss Chloe Stephens host Art League members Tuesday evening at 7 30 at Mrs. Morgan's home. The program, Art in Photography, will be conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Geo Cassies.
Rey and Mrs. A M Fox announce the birth of an eight pound daughter on Friday January 6. The infant’s father is pastor of the Post Oak Holiness Church and the child is named Selma Darlene.
Dr M E Davis head of Howard Payne College Bible Department will present a series of lectures at the First Baptist Church from January 26 to January 2. The lectures titled Church History will cover the subject in an informative and engaging manner.
The Ritz Theatre reopens Friday night January 20 after extensive remodeling. Blue walls, rose panels, rock-wall look, refreshed seating, and a reorganized lobby create space. The outside front is redesigned with a widened marquee. Opening feature is Tom Sawyer Detective starring Donald O Connor and Billy Cook.
The Press Club of Lubbock plans a dinner at the Hotel Lubbock on Tuesday evening January 24 to honor Mrs. W. R. Potter a Tech Board member and Texas author. She will address the Lubbock branch of the American Association of University Women and the University Club will host a reception at the College after the program.
Supt. W B Alexander presided over a county teachers meeting at Mom Tague. The county meet is scheduled for March 17 and 18 in Bowie. Girls volleyball will be in Ringgold on February 3. Basketball in Bowie on February 10 and 11. Rural volleyball and basketball tournaments in Bowie January 27 and 28. Teams games in Bowie March 10 and 11. Directors appointments to be announced next week.
Several Bowie residents joined the colorful Inaugural ceremonies Tuesday with W. Lee O'Daniel of Fort Worth leading Texas government. Attendees from Bowie included H. Overstreet, B. I. Burgess, Miss Thelma Overstreet, Miss Opal Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. BE Wright, and Miss Bettie Miller.
A Cappella choir of about 50 voices from Alva Oklahoma and their director will perform a one hour program at 11 a.m. in Bowie High School auditorium on March 3. They will have lunch at noon in the Home Economics room with the Jammar High PTA in charge of arrangements. Admission is free to all Bowie residents with the rest of the city welcome to attend the full capacity seating.
The interior of S Daube and Co store is being remodeled. The women and children's shoe department moves to the men’s section and the former women’s space will display household goods like bed spreads. The result aims for a larger, more attractive store interior.
Goodwins Beauty Shop completes renovation featuring a facial booth first of its kind in Bowie. Chromium modernistic furniture four new dryers and a permanent wave machine accompany the expanded salon under Mr and Mrs Hari Goodwin management.
Bow ie's Volunteer Fire Department responded quickly Monday afternoon saving Sam Sawyer's home on Starlings Street from major damage. The blaze started in the roof and was believed to be caused by sparks from the flue.
Speake-Meyer Post No. 252 of the American Legion will hold a social meeting at 7 30 Friday evening at the Fire Hall. Homer Kf McDaniel, Post Commander, will preside. Members are urged to bring two ex service men to the free lunch which will be enjoyed.
At the Theatres RITZ Friday Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer Detective previews Saturday at 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday feature Angels with Dirty Faces with The Dead End Kids Humphrey Bogart and Ann Sheridan. Tuesday and Wednesday show Drums in technicolor. Friday and Saturday Prairie Moon with Gene Autry and Smiley Burnette.
