A large audience gathered at the First Methodist Church in Bowie on December 6 for a Round Table Conference on Christian Education for the Denton and Wichita Falls Districts. Rev. Ira C. Riker opened with a inspiring address and district staff were introduced including James Westbrook Irene Emerson and Mrs W H Robinson from Denton and J C Murphree D L Wigington from Wichita Falls. Dr A J Walton of Nashville led the conference program and lunch was provided by the Bowie Missionary Society.

Pioneer Resident James E. Walthall Dies at 77
James E. Walthall 77 died Wednesday morning after a three month illness. Funeral services were held December 7 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. A. J. Quinn officiating. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Burgess Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his widow Ida J. Matney and several cousins and nephews. He lived in Bowie for 47 years, born September 28, 1862 in Shelby County Missouri and married February 13, 1898.

Musicians Reunion Brings South Oklahoma Talent Together
Mr. and Mrs. E. Scott Avery joined a Sunday reunion at Charles Kreiger’s ranch east of Marlow Oklahoma. About 35 band men from Oklahoma towns and Springfield Missouri attended a dinner and afternoon of music. Avery, who played with Kreiger’s groups since 1920, called it a most enjoyable day and plans for annual reunions.
