Bowie Decorates For Yuletide Season In 3000 Globe Display
Bowie heats up for Christmas as merchants decorate shops and windows. Streamers span the streets from Prices Filling Station to Bob Miller's Station along the Fort Worth Wichita Falls Highway. The Rotary Club began this effort eight years ago and now maintains 55 streamers with about 3,000 30 watt bulbs. The city handles installation removal and electricity.

Austin Road Company Wins Sunset Highway Work Order

Perfect weekend weather at the Oil Belt Field Trial on the Wagner ranch near Stoneburg drew over 75 sportsmen from Oklahoma City Fort Worth Beaumont Wichita Falls Henrietta Austin and more. W C Gibson a long time resident of Montague County died Monday at 4 50 pm after a noon heart attack His sister Mrs Beulah Denson hosted the service with Rev W H Westbrook at First Methodist and Elmwood Cemetery burial Burgess Funeral Home directed He was born May 28 1882 near Bowie and returned there to live with his sister about 83 years ago He farmed and ran a store until ill health forced retirement in 1929.

A fire destroyed Miller's Filling Station on West Wise Street Tuesday morning. The roof ignited likely from a defective flu after Mr. Miller restocked groceries. the family residence was undamaged and insurance was not carried. The station will be rebuilt soon.
