Funeral services for 67 year old F M Mead, longtime Montague County resident, were held Friday at Tage Cemetery with Rev Johnnie Cox officiating. He died April 21 at his home near Montague. News Cooking School At Ritz Draws Large Bowie Attendance
Women of Bowie and surrounding communities fill the Ritz Theatre for a three day cooking school by The Bowie News. Free recipe books, warm greetings by Mrs. Coy Perry and others accompanied Technicolor demonstrations with clear easy to follow directions. Home Economics students from Bowie High School joined the crowds. Last year the event drew 700 women over three days.

The London Ohio Times reported Brazilian coffee operator Senor Lirpa Loof visiting the city in 1910 and printed an in depth interview. Rival papers copied the content and even covered a proposed public company, until editor H F Harrington suggested reversing the spelling to reveal an April Fool gag and teach ethics.

Bowie Band Takes Third At West Texas Convention
More than fifty Bowie cars led the city's parade at Wichita Falls during the West Texas Chamber of Commerce gathering. Gov James V Allred N B Gary and Ned Horton spoke as Bowie uniforms impressed crowds before the Bowie Band placed third in a 34 band contest scoring 91% behind Abilene High 97% and Altus 92%. Meals were provided by the Bowie Chamber in the Odd Fellows Hall.
