Last Friday Mr. William H. Thompson became the sole owner of the Meat Market previously run by Thompson and Binkley. The new owner pledges to maintain the high standards set by the former partnership and to please his customers.
Harry Hill living on a southwest farm sustained a painful cut from a wagon wheel tire last Friday. Several stitches were needed to close the wound. Dr. Folckemer provided medical care, and Hill is now improving and able to be up and around.
W C Morse of the State Geological Survey resigned on Sept 2 1915 after the summer of 1915 and the prior summer to pursue private consulting work in western dolinoss fields. He was a joint author of a report cited in a recent topman work as a lost item. A suit box is missing with a finder’s reward offered upon return to his office.
Last Friday evening the A B C Club social gathered sixty members and guests at the Antioch church. The business session preceded a short program and social time. Afterward, the group moved to the basement for refreshments of pie and candy. The next meeting will be at the Christian church or on a member’s lawn.
Miss Adrain Grady is identified as the new owner of the Vernon piano which Bowen Grocer Company donated or gave away last Saturday.
Twenty five of the Golden young folks gathered Sunday evening August 26 at the Geo Flesner home southeast of town. Lawn games entertained guests while Shooks and Flesner of Golden provided music. Refreshments were served and the evening passed pleasantly at the Flesner home.
The Bowen Grocer Co and A H Bartholomew installed the Red Crown gasoline pumping stations. The gasoline is filtered before the customer receives it. Ralph W Eckman handled the installation. The pumps are guaranteed and marketed to customers seeking dependable fuel.
Henry Ford intends a thousand acre site near Detroit for a farm tractor plant. When complete, the factory will employ 20,000 workers with Ford wages and owner-home options at cost. The tractor, costing about 200 dollars, uses the car engine and can plow four to six bottoms, mow, bind, cut ensilage, pump water, or saw wood. It promises to replace two thirds of horses and plow deeply in dry weather, boosting farm efficiency.
