The public sale of household goods and the residence of Mr GP Jacobs drew a good crowd Saturday afternoon. The residence sold to H W Young for 2185 dollars. Col Alpha Witt oversaw the sale as Mr Jacobs plans to move to Hum bolt South Dakota after the first of the year.
The Honorable Enoch H. Fleming of this city received appointment as Deputy Grand Master of the A F and A M for Hancock and Schuyler counties. He must visit about twenty lodges yearly in his district. The town is pleased by this honor and confident in his ability to fulfill the duties.
A birthday party for Silas, age nine, was held Saturday at the Dr F W Chandler home from 2 to 4 PM. The second room class of twenty six attended with treats of ice cream and cake. Silas received several gifts. hostesses included Miss Bertha Robertson, Gertrude Gillis, Mrs O M French and Walter Norris.
The very cold week drives large trade in Bowen with strong stock levels in winter clothes and hardware. All lines report brisk sales as stores offer obliging clerks and square deals to shoppers.

RS Crank Cree county reports two oat crops in a single season. Wet conditions last summer left oats unthreshed after mowing, then a second crop matured. On the 21st he cut with a binder but has not threshed yet. Estimated yield ranges from 50 to 100 bushels per acre according to neighbors.
A special meeting decided to coat the Masonic Hall roof with roofing paint and repair chimneys. Repairs began last Saturday and finished early this week. LaHarpe takes pride in its new Rest Room popular with country visitors. Merchants who funded it feel repaid by customer approval. Miss Nelle Roberts and Miss Nina Roberts left Monday for Clinton Missouri after extended visits with relatives.
