A Pelican Dance at Pizen Switch
The Piutes held a grand fandango at Pizen Switch last Sunday night with about 80 Indians present. A large fire blazed as roughly 50 dancers circled it, then collapsed toward earth. Twenty performers wore pelican suit dresses with wooden bills snapping to the rhythm, hoping to bring rain through their dances.
