Tarred and Feathered In Prospect School Incident
Richard N. Hotchkiss a Prospect Conn teacher whipped pupil Adelbert Chandler son of a wealthy farmer after flogging him before the school. He allegedly jumped on the boy multiple times and refused to let him go home as injuries appeared. Blood flowed from ears mouth and nose and Chandler's life was despaired of. Hotchkiss was arrested for assault with intent to kill and bound over to the Superior Court in New Haven County on $4000 bond.
