The Denver Republican prints an alleged portrait of Mr Campbell the Republican candidate for Colorado governor. The image makes him look as though he escaped a lynching committee, though it may not fully do justice to his appearance.

Milk price claim sparks tariff plea to commission
The milk dealers urge the public to expect 8 cents a quart after Oct 1. They argue producers receive about 3 cents at most and claim a 133 percent retail increase would cover costs and yield a profit near 100 percent. The writer suggests protection may be needed and asks the tariff commission to intervene.

Witty gossip and oddities from a crowded ledger of tales
A long row of anecdotes and remarks range from political quips and social foibles to a bear rescuing a girl in California. The notes name several public figures, cities, and events while recounting humorous, sensational, and unusual incidents with a brisk, tabloid voice.
Collapsible boat promises vast aid for ships and troops
Rev. E. L. Bu thon has developed a folding craft 28 feet long and eight feet wide that can carry 70 passengers and two weeks of stores. When folded it is under two feet in width and, stowed aboard a ship, occupies 22 inches by under nine feet. It can be sea ready in one minute with gear and water-breakers aboard. The invention could benefit immigrant vessels military transports and regular steamships.
