Brooklyn Republicans split over state vs Cleveland tickets

The Brooklyn Young Republican club held a crowded meeting to decide support for the state ticket or the Cleveland ticket. Resolutions condemned official abuse of power in nominations and were adopted. Endorsements included Gen. Tracy and Congressmen-at-large Andrews and Hepburn.

Lewiston fair features horse races and livestock shows

At Lewiston Maine on September 28 exhibitors displayed stallions geldings Hereford and Holstein cattle and oxen. A.S. Reed won the five mile driving horse race with a chestnut gelding. premiums were awarded for pears grapes and other livestock. A wagon incident injured several bystanders. Miss Sevilla Prince was seriously hurt but is rallying. The Maine State Agricultural Society elected officers and reported a $100,160 balance.

Fire tears through varnish room at Boston Rubber plant

A blaze in the varnish room of the Boston Rubber Company factory at Ridgeworth began about 6 P M on Thursday, likely from benzine vapor contacting a gas flame. Firemen quickly doused the flames with slight damage, though foreman Andrew Barnes was injured by a hose carriage.

First frost hits Rockingham county grounds Wednesday night
