On September 26 the President slept at times and ate light meals aboard the special train. Dr Grayson stayed in the President's private car for much of the afternoon. Upon arrival in the capital the President may retreat to a secluded resort to rest after months of official duties.
Pittsburgh dispatch reports no major moves as fifth day of steel workers strike ends. Strikers and companies await the next step with few signs of violence. several mills reopen and officials anticipate no material developments before Monday. Carnegie Steel and other large Pittsburgh area firms are involved in the stalemate.
The Pilgrim Tercentenary celebration plan confines events to Plymouth, ignoring Provincetown where the Pilgrims first landed. The Massachusetts Tercentenary Commission says the Plymouth landing is required by the Legislature’s appropriation, excluding Provincetown. The commission maintains this narrow interpretation despite protest.
National League games featured New York edging Boston 5 to 3 and Cincinnati sweeping Chicago with 66 to 5 in the opener and 8 to 0 in the rematch.
