Financial editor's notes explore mining value and potential crossovers in U S Smelting versus American Smelting. The piece discusses market dynamics, bear and bargain hunter activity, banking pool support, and Steelcommon's large float and trading activity.
Market moves and share dumps versus stable stocks
The text notes that large volumes, from 50,000 to 100,000 shares, can flood the market in hours without affecting price. It contrasts this with Boston & Maine where low speculation leads to several point movements from only a few hundred shares traded.
