Seattle officials report a 12 000 worker strike planned for 10 o clock Saturday morning across 15 metal trades unions in Seattle shipyards and allied shops. The walkout follows a demand for a decisive wage increase showdown amid ongoing contract talks.
It is estimated that three big steel ship yards 16 wooden yards and 40 contract shops will be affected by the strike. The Skinner and Eddy plant will not be affected after granting wage increases. Telegrams from President Wilson and Samuel Gompers urged caution but a wage board plan sparked a general walkout. The council’s board argues the Seattle case was misread and postponement efforts are useless.

Secretary Daniels pledged that casualties will be disclosed to the public. The department stated the claim is entirely unfounded and issued the denial through the public information committee.
