Wrecked Spanish cruiser Infanta Maria Teresa floated to Guantanamo

The wrecking effort by Lieut Hobson’s team succeeded in afloat the cruiser Infanta Maria Teresa. Towed by the Potomac and escorted by the Newark the Scorpion and the Alvarado she reached Guantanamo Bay where Cuban cheers and national salutes welcomed the sight. Death of Martha A Haines in apoplexy during visit

Mrs Martha A Haines aged six resided at 80 Washington street and died last night while visiting dressmaker Mrs Talbot at 8 Mason street. Dr Thayer said death was due to apoplexy after she became suddenly ill. medical help arrived too late.

Burned to Death Two Bakers in Manchester Fire

A morning bakery fire in Manchester Connecticut destroyed the Frank Goetz shop and killed two night bakers, John Loedes and Rob unknown, in their room. Losses totaled about 40 000 on buildings and contents with 25 000 insurance on stock and 10 000 on buildings. The 200 foot long building stood three stories where Goetz resided and the fire origin remains a mystery.
