After seven hours watching No 96 Court Street division 3 police broke into a room at 5 AM Friday finding pipes and opium. Walter F Tobey and his wife were arrested for keeping the place while two men were fined ten dollars and costs for frequenting the joint. Tobey and the woman were held in 500 dollars until October 6 in municipal court.

Peyton Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Monroe Place Death

In superior criminal court Friday before Judge Aldrich, Wm. Peyton pleaded guilty to manslaughter in causing the death of John Hayes on the evening of July 24. Peyton and Hayes occupied adjoining apartments in a tenement house on Monroe Place off Tyler Street. The trouble stemmed from interference with children. Peyton will be sentenced on Wednesday next.
