Brave Engineer Dies After Saving Passengers
Akron Ohio September 24 John Bull engineer of the Thunderbolt passenger train on the New York Pennsylvania and Ohio railroad died from injuries after colliding with a freight at Tallmadge Saturday night. He could have saved himself by jumping but reversed his engine and set the air brakes. He then forced the engine forward to save passengers. The train broke loose from the cars and the passengers were unharmed. He lived at Galion and was the oldest engineer on the road.

Body of Prowned Man Identified in Charles River
The body of a man found near Cottage Farm station in the Charles River has been identified as Terrence Dolan a 50 year old waiter employed at city hotels. A sequence of local incidents includes a woman dying at Vernon street and a suspect arrest in a suspicious death case, plus a theft and an adultery charge involving Meriden residents.

Beckwith siblings sail to enter English swimming events
Miss Agnes Beckwith and her brother William Beckwith depart New York on the Grecian Monarch for London. William will train immediately and, by late October, swim for England’s championship against Finney of Oldham for $500 a side in a one mile still water race. Agnes will swim 20 miles in the Thames from Westminster to Richmond and back to Teddington, plus a five mile Thames swim with hands and legs tied.
