In Quincy on September 22 Gayl Hendrickson, 35, was set ablaze by a premature blasting powder explosion at Swingle's granite quarry. Foreman Aaron Nelson risked his life to tear off the burning clothing, saving Hendrickson from immediate death though his face and chest are severely burned. Hendrickson remains semi conscious at City Hospital. assistant John Ericson also burned. Nelson suffered burns but is not believed seriously injured.
