Maiden voyage rescue by Margaret Haskell in Norfolk

The schooner Margaret Haskell arrived from Boston in Norfolk on Sept. 22 and rescued Engineer Schulz and Seaman Nelson, sole survivors of the four masted Elvira J. French, which sank off Montauk Point during a hurricane after leaving Harwich for Portsmouth with coal. The crew, including Captain J. J. Connor, went down with the vessel.

Irving F Leslie Fears For Crew In Heavy Seas

Fears are felt for the safety of the schooner Irving F Leslie of Bucksport Maine and Captain Bennett and crew of four or five men. The vessel of 71 tons carried a granite cargo in heavy weather after leaving Sullivan Maine over two weeks ago in company with the Harvest Home coaster.

Melrose dynamite wagon tragedy arrests scapegoat

Police have arrested the boy who drove the wagon that carried the fatal dynamite in Melrose. Citizens doubt he is the sole cause, demanding a full inquiry into who allowed explosives to be carted through city streets. The suspect is held on bond of 1000, awaiting further official action and trial set for October 4.

Three Alarms On Atlantic Ave Fire Response

Three alarms were sounded from Box bi shortly after 8 this morning for a fire in a five story brick building at 394-396 and 298 Atlantic avenue. The occupants included Charles T. Holden John P. Holden Air Potter Downing Company Specialty Leather Boston Paper Box Company and Skyes and Street.
