Luce Primary Voters Surge While Republicans See Turnout Drop
Stubborn Luce primary system drew nearly 10 000 more Democratic voters than the old caucus method a year earlier while Republican turnout fell citywide. Senator M J Sullivan won Governor's Council. Logan McIsaac captured the South Boston Senate seat. Fitzgerald and Sullivan were renominated. Several districts saw party machines and ward factions prevail amid improved turnout but with friction at booths and an alleged slander case over a candidate payment.
