Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Voters vote by precincts with three ballots Democrats Republicans and Socialists. The new enrolment system marks Democratic ballots with a D and ties future voting to the party unless changes are made 90 days before the next primary. Campaigns end last night with rallies torchlit processions and demonstrations.
Boston police uncovered about 500 green transfer checks used on the Elevated at the home of George H Morse printer of bogus Boston & Northern checks. The discovery ties the Boston Elev ated Railroad Company to the wide scheme that cost the Boston & Northern Railway more than 100000. Five men were held for hearings, and two Lynn prisoners face trial midweek. Investigators suggest the fraud may involve other large street railways.
Ashael Dunton, beaten at East Sullivan, remains unconscious but improved at Elliot City Hospital. Malachi Barnes, charged with assault, is held after a preliminary hearing as investigators probe missing pocketbooks believed to contain hundreds of dollars. Barnes’s wife said a man resembling Barnes was seen in the house during the assault.

A Market street outward-bound Oak Square car collided with Maurice O Keefe’s two horse wagon at about 7 30 last evening. O Keefe was thrown and badly cut, internal injuries feared. One horse died and several car windows were broken. Passengers were hurled about as flying glass filled the car. O Keefe was later taken to his nearby home for treatment by Dr Marion.
An elderly woman believed to be Miss Ethel Grant of Arlington was knocked down and robbed of a pocketbook near Leverett and Green streets. Within minutes six youths aged 13 to 15 were arrested on suspicion, while Mrs. Grant’s identification remains pending. The thieves fled into Chambers street as she waited for a Cambridge outward bound car.
In Newton on September 21 a turbulent Myrtle Baptist Church meeting ended with the pulpit declared vacant. Rev Stephen H Smith was ousted as pastor after a long address and Deacon Whiting led the proceedings. Police were called as women disrupted the session but no arrests were made. The crowd planned another meeting for Thursday night.
Police in two states chase three Italians who robbed paymaster Edward C. Sherman near Waterford Sar anac Mills and livery driver Alvin L. Brackett at dawn. They seized 2966.13 dollars from a satchel, fled along River street, crossed to Maple avenue, and boarded the 8:34 train at Blackstone Junction bound for Boston.
