Death of John F Sullivan in Lynn railroad accident
John F Sullivan national vice president of the Typographical Union and labor editor of the Boston Globe was killed by a train near Lynn. He had planned to dine with labor official John F Hickey and address a Metal Workers meeting. The accident occurred after he slept on the return trip from Boston, wandered onto the track, and was struck and mangled by a passing train. Identification was confirmed by Mr Hickey and Globe reporters.

Fire in Atlantic Avenue building kills firefighter at five stories
A five story fire at 392 398 Atlantic avenue owned by Atlantic Building Trust caused one death and several injuries. Fireman Daniel L. Shea of Engine 26 fell from the roof and died later. Two other firefighters and a bystander were injured as flames and falling debris scarred the area. The blaze began on the fourth floor in the Chase Shawmut Company and spread through the upper floors, with damage estimated over 35 thousand dollars. Moody conditions and water damage affected nearby tenants as water seeped into adjacent buildings.
