Boston gains on Baltimore as the season ends with a 12 to 0 Boston victory over Brooklyn. The pennant race hinges on three games in Baltimore and possible moves to Brooklyn and Washington. Peary in Boston Arrives as Towle Also a Winner

Noted explorer Roald Peary arrived in Boston where public reception formed the scene as local figures celebrated, while Towle also secured a victory in a separate event.

Peary Arctic trip with meteorite relics reported in Boston

Lieutenant Peary and party arrived in Boston from Sydney and detoured to avoid press attention. The explorer described a stormy voyage and detailed finds including Greely expedition relics on Cape Sabine and a 12 by 8 foot 100 ton meteorite from Meteorite Island. He noted the meteorite’s nickel steel like composition and connection to the Hope.

Child in Flames in Somerville Ends in Critical Condition

Four year old Ruth McArthur was left alone briefly by her mother Mrs. Elizabeth McArthur at 12 Kilby street. Returning to the kitchen she found the child enveloped in flames. The right leg, side and face were badly burned and the child inhaled flames. City physician Dr. A B Wearborn attended her as she remained in critical condition overnight.

President McKinley Visits Adams in Berkshire County

President McKinley arrives at North Adams and is greeted by thousands amid cheers at the fair grounds and on the streets. He travels to Adams to rest for a week, with Mine Host Plunkett hosting and crowds pressing to shake his hand and witness the celebration.

Fire at 97 Oliver Street Suspected Incendiary Origin

A blaze at 97 Oliver Street last evening, likely incendiary, was discovered by John R. Graham at 6:15 who raised the alarm. The Crosby Steam Gauge and Valve Company occupies the first and second floors while L. H. Lane, printer, is on the third. Damages are about $600. Lane heard a man running down the stairs before the fire. Police seek the suspect.

Barnaby Wins Six Hour Bicycle Race at Pleasure Beach

Tom Barnaby of Boston won a six hour race at Pleasure Beach track in Bridgeport by a neck over Dutch Waller. Monte Scott and Harry Elkes were close behind as all three riders covered 1171 8 miles. finish times could not be fractionally recorded by timers.

Man Fells Dead in Brighton Room Stay

Michael Noonan aged 50 residing at 182 Market Street Brighton collapsed and died last night while pacing his room. Dr McCowley notified. Medical Examiner Stedman to view the body today.
