In Chelsea a 68 year old night watchman Joseph McDonald was attacked on a pile driver near the old East Boston bridge. He was robbed of 30 and is hospitalized with a fractured skull not expected to survive. A second on duty guard dog Jack the collie of Dorchester was wounded while defending celery gardens during the incident.
The Boston Central Labor Union met at Wells Memorial Hall with hundreds of delegates but did not order a general strike. President Michael J. O'Donnell, chairing the committee of 17, said the time is not opportune for a walkout and no sympathy action was decided.
