In Scranton Pennsylvania on September 21 11 30 am Superintendent Nicholas and Fire Boss Proudlock recovered the bodies of six of eight men trapped by a mine cave in the marine shaft. The corpses lay in the gangway not crushed and appeared to have fallen asleep, with decomposition advanced, indicating suffocation shortly after the accident.

Port land Maine Sept 21 coroner s jury verdicted that engineer Wilson Chandler and fireman Martin Costello died when a switch at East Baldwin was left open by Edward W Spencer a Baldwin section hand The jury found missing switch lights contributed to the accident and faulted the railway for not providing them
St Louis September 21 report on the Knights Templars conclave noting the postponement of the 20,000-strong parade to Thursday with a grand display drill and concert planned at the fair grounds to benefit a Masonic widows and orphans home.
