Nine year old Richard Burnham of Kittery Me died after being struck by a car. The injured include Mr and Mrs George Hatchard and daughter Ethel, with Hatchard’s son badly gashed and Katherine O Donnell of Hull cut in the cheek.
In Portsmouth New Hampshire five occupants of a Hull Massachusetts man George H Hatchard's auto are detained awaiting a coroner's inquest to determine responsibility for the death of nine year old Richard Burnham. The boy riding a bicycle on a steep hill near Locke's Cove was crushed between the car and a trolley car after being thrown from his wheel and dragged 20 feet. The auto struck the boy before the Hatchard vehicle was hit by an Atlantic Shore Line mail car whose motorman did not see the curve and the slowing car.
A bicycle rider, Burnham of Kit tery, was killed when his bicycle collided with a touring car on a steep Whipple road curve near Locke's Cove Bridge. Five occupants were ejected. Burnham was fatally wounded with head injury. Miss Katherine O'Donnell and Hatchard's son suffered painful wounds. others escaped with minor shakings up.

Five passengers were slightly hurt when the White Mountain Express on a Boston & Maine line crashed into a switching engine at Concord Union Station. Injured include Mr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Gorman of Roxbury, Mrs. C. M. Taylor of Melrose, J. J. Cushman of Boston, and a Providence woman who refused to identify herself. None seriously hurt and track disruption followed. An investigation will begin immediately.
A Central Vermont train ran ten minutes late delaying the White Mountain Express. The switching locomotive with two new passenger cars backed toward the station as the oncoming express could not stop in time and crashed into the back car.
Sherman defeats opponents in Oneida county primaries but loses his ward and Assembly district in Utica. He wins by a small margin in Utica city and will gain the support of delegates in the first and third districts to head the delegation from the first district to the convention.
Primaries at midnight pegged Organization Republicans with 14 delegates and Progressives with 9. The fiercest battle focused on Utica seventh ward where Sherman’s district split 154 to 100 against him, yet the insurgents carried the whole ward by 95.
Theodore Roosevelt declared he did not seek President Taft’s help in the New York state contest and had no request to make. He said the interview in New Haven was cordial and that Taft wished Roosevelt’s side victory at Saratoga, a statement he called accurately reported.
The 17-year-old South Weymouth youth, after leaving home on Decoration Day, was found dead yesterday in a Hartford freight car beneath lumber. A letter from Boston attorney Walter Cronin urged intervention and hinted looming danger, directing Ford to seek help at the lawyer's office.
Police read a note that suggested a boy may be a victim of foul play and began urgent inquiries to unravel the mystery as the report continues on Page 16, Third Column.
Guy Garvin, who rushed to the Dodge residence after shots were heard, testified that Mrs. J. Marshall Dodge appeared hysterical and exclaimed about the revolver whether it had exploded or was loaded. Garvin, observer opposite the house, noted her distressed condition and high-pitched cries as Rev. H. C. Howard entered first.
Mrs. Dodge shows little understanding of the grave charge against her as she remains confined in her home. She briefly ventured out today but retreated after seeing a crowd gathered outside. The shooting that killed Heath halted renovations in the room where he worked, delaying Mrs. Dodge’s anticipated return to her own chamber. She frets over the painting being completed so she can occupy her room again and repeatedly asks attorney George L. Hunt to speed up measurements.
William J. Bryan declares he will not support James C. Dahlman for Nebraska governor. He says his crusade against liquor interests overshadows a two year personal and political friendship. The statement marks his defection from the Democratic state ticket.
Mr. Bryan expresses regret at breaking with political regularity to speak on the liquor question. He supports county option and early saloon closing law, arguing Dahlman’s stance endangers these policies and that voting for Dahlman would oppose county option and the 8 o'clock closing law. He says the voters will decide whether the state goes backward or forward on liquor policy.

Police and citizens vastly surround Arlington Heights after two men were spotted in woods late tonight. One man dragged the other as officers described a crippling injury possibly from a patrol shot, with a guard placed and dawn search planned.
Burglars broke into the William Gove house on Highland Avenue and looted it. Policeman Maguire was shot in the leg during the escape but his wound was treated and he expects to resume duty shortly. He did not fire, suspecting two known local thieves. one burglar reportedly ordered his companion to shoot the officer.
Early returns from the Minnesota primary show Representative James A. Tawney defeated for the nomination by Sidney Anderson. Tawney, longtime first district leader since 1892, was aided by a Taft speech in Minnesota. Tawney served as Speaker Cannon's ally and chaired the Appropriations Committee.
