Envoy Sedgwick Returns to Washington for Mexico Mission

Waterxeron Sept 20 Mr Sedgwick arrived in Washington and went to the Department of State for talks with Assistant Secretary Porter and Chief Clerk Brown. He then met Secretary Bayard to report his arrival and mission to Mexico before planning to return to New York. He refused interviews on the mission or Mrs Sedgwick’s verbal statement. Secretary Bayard said the report is not yet complete and will take several days.

Printing of the new silver certificates begins in Washington

The Treasury reports early distribution plans for silver certificates at printing bureau. First batch of $1 notes arrived, totaling 20 000 on 5 000 sheets.
