Boston milk contractors and producers end their joint conference after rejecting a 7 cent raise and demanding 10 cents more per 8 quart can. They threaten to halt supply at month’s end. District Attorney Moran orders both sides to grand jury on Oct 8.
Two headquarters inspectors McGarr and Armstrong arrived shortly after 3 pm and barged into a secret meeting of producers and contractors. District Attorney Moran supposedly seeks grand jury witnesses on Oct 8 to probe a milk price conspiracy. Contractors left after a final offer of 7 eight-yp cent more per quart. producers pressed for a 10 cent rise per eight-quart can plus extra shrinkage pint.
A fire at Cutter and Cutter trunk factory on Poland Street Charlestown caused 25000 in damage to building and stock. Patrolman Corwin along with officers Cuneo and Montague found the blaze at 1 30 this morning and woke families in nearby wooden blocks. No clue to the culprit.
The fishing schooner Grace Otis arrived at Ta Wharf reporting crewman Nathaniel Dexter missing after straying in a fog in his dory near Sankaty Head on Sunday.

Edward Malone also on Eastern Avenue had peppered cheeks from debris as police investigate how the explosive was left there.
A young woman presumed to be Mrs. Herbert Johnson was struck by a Boston and Northern electric car bound for Haverhill on First Street. Dense fog hindered the motorman's view. the car derailed and dragged her under the wheels, breaking every bone in her body. A card in her pocket partially identified her.
