The Evening News reports a dropped scheme to fake Cronin’s murder as a British spy by planting a Cronin lookalike corpse in the Thames with Cronin’s clothes and trinkets. A Chicago and Western express from Pittsburg derailed after an open switch at Colliers causing a wreck of several gondolas an engine ditched and wrecked. About twenty five people were killed or injured with many sustaining burns and fractures. The wreck was described as a large blaze lighting the sky for miles as crews cleared debris and prepared to resume service by midnight.
The street committee visited Plymouth to view the electric street railway with Newton Street Railway Company as hosts. Later remonstrances were filed against the petition for tracks in River and Newton streets by Cambridge and Waltham water boards and Waltham Gaslight Company. Orders allocated funds for Wadsworth avenue layout, polling places, sidewalks, and Adams street drain.
