Raid on gambling house at 81 Howard Street ends with seizures

Derby Chair Factory Fire Incident and Danbury Fatal Collision

Yesterday afternoon a man attempted to set fire to the Derby chair factory at 97 Cross Street. Bookkeeper Mahoney extinguished the blaze but burned his hands. A second report notes Edward Licht of Danbury, Conn., killed instantly when struck by a Danbury & Norwalk railroad engine between Bethel and Danbury while crossing the tracks.
