Supreme Judicial Court hears will priority dispute in Pierce estate
In equity the Supreme Judicial Court considers whether legacies to Thomas Wentworth Pierce’s children should have priority over other bequests when total legacies exceed estate assets. Pierce, a railway magnate, left about 1.26 million to two children and 2 million in total legacies. Executed objections challenge the proposed priority, with lawyers for executors and legatees listed. Also noted are claims in a writ of mandamus seeking damages for highway land taking in Dedham, and various probate and superior court actions with multiple parties and firms.
