Firemen's Union postpones action on West End grievances

Firemen's Protective Union meeting at Wells Memorial building debated West End road grievances and postponed action pending a report from special committees. Eighty six West End employees sought union membership. accusations of partisan packing arose. Union referred proposals to the American Federation of Labor, adopted sympathy for striking miners, and allocated 100 for their aid.

Lightning strikes dwelling in Orient Heights no loss

Lightning hit a frame house on Blackstone Street in Orient Heights yesterday. The dwelling was occupied by Captain William Hodnett but no injuries or property loss were reported.

Subway Foreman Accused of Assault in Town Square

Pale with excitement a woman rushed to police HQ at 2 am reporting threats to her husband. William T. Ryan, subway foreman, was arrested after a struggle with Patrolman Saunders near an open trench. John A. Bragan alleged assault by Ryan after a near collision with a subway dray. A witness from the Quincy House agreed to testify. Ryan had recent threats of arrest for assault.

Water inspectors pose as thieves in West Roxbury home

Two men posing as water inspectors visited M. D. Ross at Forrest Hill Street West Roxbury at 10 PM last night. While one went upstairs and the other downstairs the pair stole three gold rings a gold Waltham watch a gold chain and a garnet ring set with three large diamonds from the residence.

Fists clash in gravel pit on Bickford Street

A mass fight broke out in Nawa's gravel pit off Bickford Street yesterday afternoon. James McNeil of 60 Walden Street lay unconscious from head wounds as workers alleged Edward McCabe of 916 Parker Street struck McNeil with a pick handle and he was arrested.

Terrific tornado devastates Texas towns including Port Arthur

A powerful tornado struck Port Arthur and Sabine Pass area at dawn, killing six and injuring many. Homes and the railroad roundhouse were destroyed, telegraph lines failed, and relief trains were sent from Beaumont. Be mortuary arrangements for victims were made in Beaumont with A B Stillwell pledging $10,000 for repairs.

Storm Strikes East Boston Damage Minimal

A Boston storm centered on East Boston struck two houses with no serious damage. A bolt hit 160 Border Street home of Judge Emmons. firefighters found no blaze. Captain William Hodnett reported lightning cracked his chimney on Orient Heights. No injuries reported.

Storm Affects Winthrop with Lightning Strikes

A severe thunderstorm hit Winthrop yesterday afternoon, striking two locations. An apartment house on Bicirley Street owned by Thomas Talbot suffered minor damage as residents flooded into the street. A vacant riverside building on River Road was badly wrecked.

Strikes in Dubois Pennsylvanias four week standoff remain unsettled as foreign workers threaten to return if imprisoned miners are freed. A noon vote urged return by tomorrow if prisoners released but an afternoon vote postponed it. General Manager Robinson warned of a twelve month mine closure if Rochester miners do not return tomorrow morning. All other mines in the Clearfield and Jefferson Coal Company operate normally.
