Ticket scalping shakes up rates to Cincinnati and beyond
The piece notes scalpers holding blocks of tickets so commissions are cut from already low round trips to Cincinnati at 12 dollars, 7 dollars one way, and to Indianapolis at 10 dollars round trip or 5 one way. Proportional cuts affect all points east between St. Louis and Baltimore. The Baltimore and Ohio is urged to meet the cut to avoid the Bee line gaining ground, with expectant open break between B&O and Pennsylvania unless tickets are withdrawn. If B&O aligns, the Bee line may not stay out. The war is seen limited to Cincinnati, Indianapolis and local routes, but could spread to Baltimore once started.
