Despatch from St Paul de Loande dated Sept 9 says Henry M Stanley, ten days into interior march on the Aruwimi, found navigable water above rapids. He launched a steel whaleboat and rafts, with 480 caravan followers and 40 Zanzibar natives. Stanley aims for Mabodi center by July 22 and Wadelai by mid August. At 12 52 this morning a fire alarm from Box 152 signaled a slight fire on the third story of the Standard Sugar Refinery in South Boston. The watchman extinguished it before the department arrived. No damage occurred.

New York reports a large meeting of the Progressive or Socialistic Labor party deciding to hold a State convention on September 28. Labor organizations wage workers producers and citizens who support the party theories were invited. A campaign planning committee was appointed.
