A deed records transfer of land and buildings in Newburyport from George W. Wallace and wife of Brooklyn to the Solid Fibre Company of Portland for $1 and other considerations. The Solid Fibre Co also mortgages $100,000 to Joel Seymour of New York. In South Boston, fireman James McQuade of the New York and New England railway was injured in a late evening incident, suffering multiple injuries and taken to City Hospital. Jamey Clinton of South Boston fell from a ladder, receiving a brain concussion and was also taken to City Hospital.
Owing to illness Mme Trebelli cancels her Worcester festival engagement. Mme Helene Hastreiter is engaged to replace her and will perform also in Amominius. Hastreiter sails Sept 10 on the Etruria. Leopold Lichtenberg replaces Franz Kneisel as concert master and solo violinist after Kneisel injures his hand in Germany.
