Sale of Bankers and Merchants Telegraph in Ohio
In Cleveland on September 11 the receiver of the Bankers and Merchants Telegraph Company arranged an Ohio sale of the lines, claimed as deteriorating and unprofitable. The American Rapid Company sought a postponement citing its own property involvement. Judge Barber ruled the sale should proceed and the sheriff will auction the property today. Edward S. Stokes advocated against postponement with Col. Robert G. Ingersoll conducting the case for him.
