A woman about 27 years old is dead and a man is dying at the Relief Hospital after being shot in the left temple with a .32 calibre revolver. Names are unknown to police. a book found on the man bears the name Frank E. Ogilvie and the address East Side Ice Company Hammond avenue Melrose.

She used the breast stroke most of the way, with an overarm stroke only in vessel wash, chewed gum, and drank sugar with brandy. She planned a English channel attempt but weather halted it. she will sail home then return next spring.
The 13 year old Henry Whitson, missing from Holyoke since last Saturday, was found drowned in the Connecticut River near Mt. Tom Northampton. His clothing lay on the river bank, indicating he ventured into deep water while bathing.
In Chicago on September 10, Joe Wood of the Red Sox earned his 15th consecutive win as Boston beat the local club 5 to 4. A hot day sapped Wood’s effectiveness and he was briefly relieved by Rescuer Hall after trouble in the ninth. Wood’s baserunning offered little help as the day wore on.
The Red Sox led 4 to 1 after Wood pitched well through seven. In the eighth and ninth innings a dramatic turnaround sparked by a miscue and late hitting sent fans into a marathon around the grand stand as Boston battled to hold the lead.
In Beverly on September 10 Mrs. Katie F. Spencer, mother of Bertram G. Spencer, sobs as she appeals to the President to save her son from the electric chair for the murder of Springfield teacher Martha B. Blackstone. She travels to Parramatta by taxicab, meets Secret Service, and learns any plea must go through the executive office.
Mrs. Spencer visits the President's office but is told the President cannot intervene. She appeals to the Governor and council for clemency for her son Bertram, who is condemned to death next week, and returns to Boston promising to continue the fight.
