Centremens Cent announces grand new salesrooms at the corner of Washington and Swamer Streets, opened last fall beside the second floor of the retail building housing a Young Men’s Department, offering garments of every description for men.
Men’s Wear showcases ready-made suits and overcoats in a dedicated Gentlemen’s Department. The display includes Sacks, 3-Button Frocks, Prince Albert doubles, and diverse trousers in Diagonals, Kerseys, and English Tweeds. Fabrics sourced from England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and American mills emphasize finish, fit, and price savings versus custom tailoring.

In Montreal on September 10 the Pitcher case opened in the Court of Queen's Bench. Crown prosecutor N W Irenholme argued the trial uses a new statute on receiving stolen goods into Canada. He said the case concerns Canadian justice as well as American. Joseph Johnson of the Union Bank of Providence testified, repeating earlier statements.
The sixteenth annual National Rifle Association prize meeting began at Creedmoor, with entries from top shooters. Major W. W. Merrill of Massachusetts won the Wimbledon cup for 1000 yards, scoring 134 to James McNiven 116. T. J. Dolan led the Judd match with 33 and L. F. Farnsworth, J.B. Osborn also high. The Tiffany prize at 200 yards and several scores were incomplete as contests continued.
Utica and New York markets report dull cheese trading with varied small lots. Utica sales total 400 boxes at 8c and other lots up to 8%c. butter shows creamery packages at 24 25c. Lirrie Fats lists cheese sales including 2530 boxes at 8c and 970 at 8?4c, with dairy at 8%4 and 8%c.

Cleveland dispatch reports the west bound No 5 excursion train carrying G A R veterans from Youngstown to Columbus wrecked at Rittman when freight No 37 crashed into the rear coach. Four killed, twenty five injured, many seriously. Victims listed include engineer Barney Bolinger and brake man William Cochran. An inquest to follow.
In Indianapolis on September 10 delegates en route to the Grand Army encampment at Columbus called on General and Mrs. Harrison. A special train carried 600 Kansas veterans and wives to the Denison rotunda where Harrison praised their wartime bond and declined a public speech. The day also notes naturalization reform proposals and votes to advance interstate commerce amendments in Congress.
