Eddie Hasha of Waco Texas crashes over the rail at the Newark motordrome causing six deaths and 13 serious injuries among spectators. Johnny Albright of Denver and Edward Fischer of Newark identified among the deceased. about five thousand witnesses watch the finish of a four mile free for all as Hasha rode at ninety two miles per hour.
Portland Maine September 8 in Maine the state election pits Democrats and Republicans for governor and control of the executive and legislative branches. Prohibitionists and Socialists appear on the ballot along with candidates Frederick W Plaisted William T Haines William T Sterling and George Allan England.
Colonel Roosevelt continued his cross country trek by train reaching the continental divide stage in Montana. He spent the night in Helena and observed the steep climb to the summit with two locomotives in front and one behind to aid the ascent. He expressed a wish to board a locomotive and was granted the request.

Dr. Llewellyn F. Barker of Johns Hopkins University arrived in Bar Harbor from North Carolina by special train to tend Mrs. John R. McLean who is seriously ill with pneumonia at her summer home. The journey covered 1200 miles in under 40 hours, starting with a wild wagon ride over the mountains and finishing with a racing motor boat and fast automobile on the final lap.
Dr Barker, the McLean family physician, sped from Lake Toxaway to Bar Harbor via three special trains and a carriage relay after being summoned to care for Mrs McLean. He reached Bar Harbor late Saturday to find her seriously ill and resting more easily, though still in danger.

The consulate seeks to corroborate that Mrs Szabo's mother was dead when a citation signed by her name was attached to the daughter's will. Albright was thrown into the track inclosure as the champion's wheel slid down the bank. Robert F. Fanning 22 of Roxbury was arrested by Sergeant Dana Fisher for throwing a brick through a Vernon street window during a raid on illegal liquor. Fanning, paroled Feb 15 1911 by Governor Foss, served three years of a six to nine year sentence for robbery. Bridget Jenning 65 allegedly struck Reserve Officer John D. Hoar with a bottle, requiring 11 stitches.
