The couple, longtime residents from Chelsea Massachusetts, had moved here years ago and were believed to be about 50 and 40 respectively. The town of 500 people lies ten miles west of Ashland in Aroostook county.
Officials report to Coroner William F. Bugzell that Emery’s death appears self-inflicted or murder. The coroner will investigate after arriving. in the meantime the bodies will lie undisturbed.
Daniel George Emery, son of George D. Emery a mahogany dealer, lived on George Street Chelsea eight years ago. His father led the George D. Emery Company with Central American land holdings, lumber yards in Chelsea and Portland, Maine. The lands in Nicaragua faced 1907 revolution risks and were sold to an English syndicate. The Emerys moved to Newton about eight years ago. George D. Emery died four years ago.
