Navy workers get less pay across the board

Secretary Denby approved a navy civilian wage cut affecting about 50,000 workers. Overhead non producers face a 20 percent pay reduction with position reductions of one third to one half. Unskilled labor drops from 48 to 41 cents per hour while skilled labor falls from 84 to 73 cents. The policy excludes American citizens from further wage declines in line with labor market conditions.

Boy Fatally Run Over by Ice Cream Truck in Chelsea

Abraham Shamlin, aged 6, of 301 Spruce Street Chelsea, was playing with other boys when he was caught between two wheels of an ice cream truck. A rear wheel passed over his legs and he died later at Chelsea Memorial Hospital.
