Mayor Quincy and Alderman Berwin were praised as bath houses opened at private expense to ease the heat. Crowds filled North End and Cabot street baths with plans to keep facilities open through Sept. 1, while others like Charlestown and Wood Island beaches were opened today. Vessel moves include Santuit and Orion, with crew changes and oil carrier refurbishments, as ships return to the Uncle Sam. The Plantine and Topeka discussions hint at naval trade shifts, and Cape Ann and City of Gloucester sailers provide busy harbor traffic amid war vessels.
