A epic 42 round battle between Sam Gans and Dan Nelson drew 5000 spectators with 200 women as blood and violence marked the struggle. Gans outboxed and outlasted Nelson through waves of jaw and head punches, head butts, and brutal clinches before a foul in round 42 handed the fight to Gans.
The bout saw Nelson absorb a brutal series of punches as Gans pressed, drawing blood from Nelson’s nose and mouth. Nelson fought back but trailed as Gans landed decisive rights drawing cheers and a big Gans lead. Nelson exhausted, sat in his chair with a bleeding, split face as the referee observed.
After the bout, Gans stated he would fight Nelson again in about fourteen days confirming an immediate rematch plan. The announcement signals a swift revival with the two fighters set for a quick rematch window.
