An unexploded dynamite charge in Tide water Trap Rock Company’s East Haven quarry explodes when a steam drill tests the blast. Worker Tonti Tonti is killed as rock and drill plunge 40 feet, injuring four others including two seriously. Andrew Akeland Branford among those involved.
Edward C. Paull a Taunton Mass broker was arrested in New York on a warrant from Ports mouth New Hampshire Justice William H. Alvin. He is charged with larceny for securing a $746.60 draft endorsement by misrepresentation and is described as a fugitive from justice.
Edward C Paull, prominent Taunton citizen and two term state legislator, ran a grain and brokerage business in Taunton and also operated a brokerage firm in Boston. He was petitioned into bankruptcy last spring with alleged assets around 200000 dollars.

Three Providence men, William Carroll 44 Edward Collins 650 and Walter Lacy 27, were found dead after their catboat capsized off Horseneck Beach Westport while returning from a Vineyard Haven trip. Medical Examiner said they likely died over a day earlier. Carroll’s address was 805 Eddy Street Providence.
The bodies of 18 year old Robert H. Baldwin and 17 year old Paul Farnsworth were recovered after a canoe capsized in a squall on the Connecticut River. Baldwin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Baldwin of Holyoke.
The State convention of the Socialist Labor Party met at 1165 Tremont street and announced nominations for state offices. William H. Carroll of Boston was named Governor with Walter J. Hoar of Worcester as Lieutenant Governor and John Claudine of New Bedford as Secretary of State. David F. Richardson of Lynn was chosen Treasurer. Albert Barnes of Fall River and Arthur E. Reimer of Boston were nominated Attorney-General.
James F. Boyle of Lowell says he has used Father John's Medicine in his family for 30 years. He claims it cured his chronic bronchitis and restored flesh and strength.
H T Schaefer writes to John B Moran from Boston on Aug 27 detailing alleged pressure from Moran campaign managers. He resists fundraising demands for a lieutenant governor bid, cites graft concerns, cites Massachusetts Corrupt Practices laws, and calls for grand jury attention.
