Chicago September 2 A Baltimore & Ohio cashier William F Tanner closes his eyes and clasps his wife who is caught in a railroad frog as a limited train of the Chicago & North Western strikes them. The couple dies and three children are left as orphans. Continued on Page 18 First Col.
Managers and actors prepare for extended dispute as six leading theatres shut down. Many actors depart the city while the Equity Association plans a self produced show soon to fill the gap.
J Ogden Armour president of Armour & Co says prices have peaked and will fall with the new grain and hog crop. He notes retail relief will lag as stores unload old stock, but mass price reductions are coming and households will feel the effect soon.

He cited French losses at 26 percent of mobilized men and 57 percent of under 31 killed, arguing the peace must be allied and that Rhine safeguards with Anglo French American accords ensure France faces no future German aggression.
