Defendants DENTAL IN MERGER SUIT ST. PAUL

Northern Securities Company and J J Hill file a general denial in a United States Court suit to block the consolidation of Northern Pacific and Great Northern railways. They deny Hill's ownership or control of most Great Northern stock on Nov 13 1901 and dispute the alleged unlawful combination. They claim state railroad grants were valuable considerations and that competition rates have fallen since the Securities Company formed. They assert statutes cited violate the US Constitution and deny any unlawful conspiracy.
