Manchester New Hampshire September 1 Preparations for the New England fair are complete large arrivals of cattle and horses. Cattle entries are the largest ever at any New Hampshire exhibit. G B Loring president of the New England Agricultural Society will open the fair at 10 30 A M. An exhibition of horses runs 1 50 to 8. Ex Gov Smyth will bring Mr Blaine to Portsmouth and Blaine will speak at the fair at 10 30 Thursday. Gov Smyth hosts Blaine Thursday evening. Four electric lights illuminate the grounds with space for 25 000 attendees.
The Brooklyn health commissioner learned two sailors on the schooner J. A. Baker from Georgetown were ill and may have yellow fever. They were hospitalized. one man died. An inspector later ruled the illness as asthenia following pernicious intermittent fever. Another sick seaman was taken to Staten Island marine hospital.
Deputy Attorney General Post asks the supreme court to appoint a receiver for the Wall Street bank in a dissolution suit. Affidavits show total liabilities of 1,134,343 with 23,280 on hand, 67,431 on deposit at United States Trust, and good collateral and maturing commercial paper this year. Assets are expected to exceed liabilities, enabling full depositor payment. court reserved decision.
In Oakland Iowa Taylor Doane and Tom Brown forced entry into Edward McConkey’s home to rob him. A disabled helper named Dean was hit with a piece of iron, Brown shot Dean three times, then McConkey struck Brown with an iron pipe. Doane died on the scene, Dean and Brown were fatally wounded.
In Dover New Hampshire at a popular resort Jack Conboy of Manchester England and Billy Tapley of Providence Rhode Island fought six rounds under gloves. The purse of five dollars from fifty spectators went to the winner or division of funds after a draw. Conboy secured rounds three five and six while Tapley won one two and four. Referee was Prof Fogerty. Another match was arranged.

New Haven Conn Sept 1 William LL Nillingbeck bookkeeper at the New Haven car trimming company shot himself after a brief talk with an employer. Authorities believe the act stemmed from alleged defalcations at the firm. He was wounded but alive.
The third annual national mining and industrial exposition was formally opened in Denver on September 1 as crowds from across Colorado and nearby territories gathered. A parade this afternoon featured numerous civic and military organizations in the event’s opening ceremonies.
Harold C. De Wolfe of New York, residing at the Windsor with actress Baby Veining of the Grand Opera company, says he is married. He was arrested on a charge of obtaining 3500 dollars on worthless drafts in Montreal.
Hazleton Pa Sept 1 At Slabtown Peter Seaworsk stabbed his daughter in law Mrs Thomas Seaworsk after she insisted on berries for breakfast Then Seaworsk stabbed himself Both are expected to die in the hospital this morning indicating a fatal domestic confrontation.
Bancor Maine Sept 1 W H Owen of Milo drowned Sunday in Pleasant river while bathing. It is supposed he had cramps. Owen was a prominent local figure. He leaves a widow and five children.
Charles H. Moore was today appointed receiver for the Burrows estate in Buffalo New York. Much of the estate has been dissipated by President Warner of the Albion National Bank.
Warning against misrepresentation of Angostura bitters sold as genuine. Genuine article imported only in bottles from South America and manufactured exclusively by Dr. I. G. B. Siegert & Pong.
The Democratic National Convention adopted resolutions endorsing Samuel J. Tilden and planned to present them to him at Greystone, but the plan was abandoned as he preferred a written address due to ill health. A large New Hampshire contingent and committee members from Rockingham to Merrimack counties were listed, with about 600 delegates expected.
A massive labor parade denounces the Tribune and its candidate while marching past city hall. Delegates from Typographical union No. 6 report being blocked from Tribune windows, bands play the Dead March in Soul, and placards condemn the Tribune and demand votes for the Democratic ticket to defeat Blaine.
Special Despatch to the Boston Post reports two enrollments in an Irish American Blaine club, with Kelleher and O Connell on the platform at a Republican meeting. Rev George W Pepper spoke while supporters heard Democratic speeches at city hall. Judge Redman camps for Cleveland Hendricks nationwide rallies with major town stops noted.
Arrangements for todays Republican state convention in Concord NH include expected gubernatorial nominee Moody Currier of Manchester amid strong delegate presence. Elector candidates mentioned include George W. Libby Frank C. Churchill and John B. Smith with Tilton urged to head the ticket. Gallinger faction claims 250 of 300 delegates for Gallin gar.
In Denver a letter from German residents in Buffalo reports Grover Cleveland as educated and liberal minded, opposed to prohibition and all sumptuary laws. Hartford Sept 1 Delegates to the democratic state convention gather in large numbers with strong support for renominating Gov Waller by acclamation though his letter saying he is not a candidate seeds debate. Possible rivals include ex Gov Ingersoll ex Senator Eaton Lieut Gov Sumner and John H Leeds with Eaton willing if field clears and Waller out. E W Seymour Litchfield presides.
Littl Boeck Ark Sept 1 The vote in this county was heavy today with wards not counted yet. The county ticket will be close but the Democrats claim victory for the entire ticket. State indications show large overall vote and deep interest in county elections. The Democratic state ticket is elected by a large majority. Most Republicans voted against the amendment repudiating 11 000 000 railroad aid and levee bonds.

G C Taylor Old Bourbon advertised as pure safe stimulant bottled by druggists and grocers.

William H. Cundy Capt. John Mack Lieut. L. S. Drew and the commissioned officers treasurer quartermaster and clerk added to the panel.
Pittsburg reports the Austrian government and U S state department took note of Chief Braun’s bid to force Consul Schamberg to remove the Austrian flag citing treaty rights. Secretary Frelinghuysen urged Patton to tell the mayor to dismiss any charges and offer a courteous explanation. Mayor Fulton, away, will decide after consulting his attorney.

Other items: Kepler Brothers flour mill and wheat elevator in Waterloo Illinois buried with substantial losses. Hotel Newport in Key East burned with many guests affected. flour mills at Eufadia Alabama also burned with sizable losses.
