Pension Roll Totals 991 519 and 138 Million Spent

The veteran pension system shows 991,519 beneficiaries including 753,451 soldiers 287,415 widows and dependents and 653 army nurses. Last year payments reached 131,617,961 with total expenditures to date at 138,555,052. The list grew by 40,991 names but shrank by 48,186 with 34,345 deaths.
